roups are asked to remain quiet and calm when walking through the aviaries to avoid distressing the birds. Some walk-through areas may have double-gate systems; visitors must wait for the first gate to close before the second is opened by a leader or staff member.
There is a designated First Aid point located near the main entrance/exit and the Forest Lodge shop. Staff members are trained in first aid, though school groups are advised to carry their own basic kits for minor scrapes during the walk around the 26-acre site.
Most of the park is outdoors and involves walking between various aviaries and paddocks. Students should wear comfortable, closed-toe footwear and bring waterproof clothing depending on the forecast.
High-standard hand-washing stations are located at the entrance and exit of the Jenny Wren Farm and Penguin Island areas. Hand washing is mandatory after any contact with animals at the farm or in walk-through exhibits.
